KATHMANDU: The government has decided to replace Bagmati Governor Bishnu Prasad Prasai with Yadav Chandra Sharma.

A cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar on Thursday recommended the President to appoint Sharma as new Chief of Bagmati Province. Sharma served as personal secretary to CPN-UML (Samajbadi) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal.

Following leader Nepal faction’s move to register a new party, the government is starting to appoint people close to leader Nepal to various positions as the faction’s support to the incumbent government was crucial.

Earlier, the Nepali Congress and the CPN-Maoist Center replaced provincial chiefs in Gandaki, Lumbini and Province 2.
