UML piles pressure on Speaker to dismiss 14 lawmakers



KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has drawn the attention of Speaker Agni Sapkota to expedite the dismissal process of the 14 lawmakers against whom the party had informed the Parliament Secretariat.

UML Parliamentary Party Chief Whip Bishal Bhattarai, Whip Shanta Chaudhary, and other lawmakers met with Speaker Sapkota and asked him to release 14 lawmakers including Madhav Kumar Nepal from the post of lawmakers.

The CPN-UML had decided to oust Madhav Kumar Nepal, Ram Kumari Jhankri, Metmani Chaudhary, among others from the post of lawmakers, and had registered the letter in the Parliament Secretariat on Wednesday.

Speaker Sapkata, meanwhile, said that he would initiate the process after going through the letter.

He also stated that he would take a decision according to the prevailing law.
