UML’s establishment faction in reverse gear for unity’s sake

Organizing 10th CC meet after 13th!

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML’s Chairman KP Oli faction, realizing their adverse days after last Monday’s SC verdict to overturn the decision of dissolution of the House of Representatives, has gone in reverse gear to retain unity in the rifting party.

As an attempt to mainstream the disgruntled Khanal-Nepal faction, UML’s establishment has gone for 10th central committee (CC) meeting though they had organized 13th meeting after expelling Khanal-Nepal faction leaders.

The banner of the CC meeting taking place at Tulsi Lal Memorial Foundation Lalitpur has mentioned Monday’s meeting as the tenth meeting.

Earlier, the meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar on July 2 and 3 was mentioned as the 13th CC meeting.

Oli faction has described this reverse gearing as the flexibility the establishment has shown to be more inclusive.

“Despite the fact that there had been 13th CC meeting, we decided to regard today’s meeting as the 10th one; it’s our attempt to abide by the 10-point agreement reached on July 11,” a member of former task force formed to find common ground to retain unity said on Monday.

The 10 point agreement was prepared by the representatives from both factions led by Chairman Oli and Senior leaders Jhala Nath Khanal and Madhav Kumar Nepal.

Later, senior leader Nepal had objected to some of the provisions of the agreement and had deterred signing it.
