CPN-UML Central Committee meeting underway

Leaders close to Madhav Nepal abstain

KATHMANDU: The Central Committee (CC) meeting of the CPN-UML has begun in Lalitpur.

The CC meeting is taking place at Tulsi Lal Memorial Foundation in Cyasal, Lalitpur, according to Sher Bahadur Tamang, the secretary of the UML Central Party Office.

The CC meeting will dwell on the latest political developments and the intra-party dispute of the UML.

Today’s meeting will also discuss taking action against those UML lawmakers who voted in favor of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Meanwhile, leaders of the Madhav Nepal faction have not attended the meeting.

Earlier on Friday, a Standing Committee (SC) meeting decided to dissolve the UML Dispute Resolution Task-Force after endorsing its 10-point agreement.

The SC meeting had also decided to stage protests against the decision of the Supreme Court across the nation.

UML has become the main opposition after the Supreme Court reinstated the House of Representatives (HoR) and appointed Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba as the Prime Minister of Nepal through the mandamus.

The intra-party dispute of the UML has taken a new height after UML lawmakers of Nepal-Khanal faction voted for Prime Minister Deuba.
