RPP issues whip to vote for Home Minister Thapa

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has issued a whip to vote for CPN-UML candidate Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ in the by-election to the National Assembly.

Issuing a statement on Wednesday, RPP has directed all its representatives to vote for UML candidate in National Assembly’s by-election scheduled for tomorrow as the latter has formally requested for vote.

“As the UML has requested Badal to help in the by-elections, the RPP province assembly members and other local levels are informed to cast their votes for him” RPP said.

Home Minister Thapa formerly a lawmaker from the same province from CPN-Maoist Center is contesting from UML this time.

The post had gone vacant after Minister Thapa was sacked by his erstwhile party, Maoist Center.

The opposition alliance comprising of Nepali Congress, Maoist Center and Janata Samajbadi Party has fielded Khimlal Devkota for the post.

RPP has a total of 132 votes in Bagmati Province.
