KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli presented a political report at the Central Committee (CC) meeting held in Baluwatar Monday.
The CC meeting, which is also the general convention organizing committee, endorsed the party Chairman’s report, which calls on party rank and file to be prepared for election that may be held at any time, according to CC member Pradeep Gyawali.
Chair Oli pointed out that there was little chance of the existing political crisis being resolved for political stability in the country. Hence, all should be prepared for the election, the party chair concluded in document.
The political document also reviewed the UML government’s three years in power and has concluded that despite overwhelming challenges, the government was able to secure significant achievements, Gyawali said.
The document also analyzed the unification among communist forces, especially with CPN (Maoist Center). Though the intent of the unification was noble, some elements and characters led to the nullification of the merger, Chair Oli concludes.
The political document also calls on disgruntled faction of the party to unite for the good of the party by undergoing necessary introspection before it is too late.
The CC today also decided to complete work of re-organizing all party committees by mid-June and renewing party membership by mid-July.
It also agreed to hold local to district-level assemblies and province-level assemblies by October this year.
The CC meeting also decided to hold an assembly to review party statute by mid-August.
Earlier on March 12, 2021, the party decided to hold its 10th general convention on November 18-22.
