CIB nabs seven doctors on fake certificates allegation



KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has arrested seven doctors allegedly involved in obtaining fake educational certificates to pursue the medical study.

As part of its ‘operation quack’ CIB arrested seven doctors, today, for possessing forged academic certificates, mostly of school and intermediate level and using them to pursue their medical degree.

Among those arrested are also the doctors working Dirghayu Guru Hospital and Neuro Hospital.

They were arrested and made public by CIB today.

Among the arrested are Mohammad Siddique, 28, of Bishnapur Gaonpalika-2 of Saptari, working at Neuro Hospital, Biratnagar;  Subhash Prasad Sah, 29, of Mahottari, working at Janakpur Children’s Hospital; and Mohammad Shahid Raja, 28, of Mahalaxmi in Lalitpur, working at the Dirghayu Guru Hospital Chabahil.

Similarly, 31-year-old Dipendra Gautam of Manang working at Chaurajahari Mission Hospital in Rukum West; Akhilesh Kumar Dev, 31, of Morang; Pallavi Singh, 27, of Bhaktapur  and Faraz Hussain Khan, 29, of Sanepa, Lalitpur have also been arrested.

They were arrested from various places including the premises of the hospital they worked.

According to the bureau, they have been found to have corrected the details of name, date of birth, score etc. without reaching the minimum qualification required in the SLC certificate for MBBS in Bangladesh.

According to the bureau’s research, the Medical Council approved their MBBS degree in Bangladesh on the basis of the same certificate.

The arrested have been sued in Kathmandu District Court.
