NC to hold CWC meeting to fix deadline for active membership distribution

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting is slated to take place at 4 pm at party central office in Sanepa Monday, according to central office Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel.

The main agenda of the meeting will be fixing deadline for renewal and distribution of NC active membership. Currently, the party has been distributing active membership in 71 districts only. The party’s membership distribution is yet to start in six districts of Province 2 and Province 3, including Kavre and Sindhupalchowk, among others.

Earlier, the party had fixed April 12 as the deadline but as distribution has not started in those districts, the NC is likely to extend the deadline. Also the work of inclusion remains in those districts.

The CWC meeting was called for Sunday but disagreement between leaders led to postponement of the meeting. Senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel has been insisting that membership distribution deadline should not be extended for long and districts ought to send details of memberships to the center in the stipulated time.

The party’s 14th general convention is scheduled to take place in August this year.
