‘Missing’ Russian climbers arrive at Base Camp

KATHMANDU: Three Russian climbers who had reportedly gone missing from Mt Annapurna I peak (8,091 meters), have come to contact to the base camp on Monday afternoon.

Earlier, Sergey Kondrashkin, Alexander Luthokin, and Dmitry Sinev were reported to be missing in Annapurna region.

Immediately after the news about the climbers gone missing, a search committee had been mobilized.

Mira Acharya, director at Nepal Tourism Board informed that the climbers had come to contact later.

“They had not gone missing actually,” Acharya said, adding, ” They arrived to the base camp late.”

The Annapurna region is a diverse and popular trekking area.

In April 2020, two South Korean trekkers had died in an avalanche in the Annapurna region.
