KATHMANDU: The government has decided to withdraw cases filed against the cadres and leaders of Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) during the Madhesh movement.

A cabinet meeting held in Baluwatar this morning took a decision to this effect, according to a minister privy to the meeting.

In a meeting held with JSP Central Council Chairman Mahantha Thakur held recently, Prime Minister KP Oli had assured that the government would withdraw the cases filed against JSP’s cadres and leaders.

The JSP had submitted to the Home Ministry a list of 208 cadres and leaders implicated in 24 different cases.

It is not, however, clear whether the government withdrew all the cases or not.

According to JSP Central Member Surendra Jha, cases of some cadres in the list submitted to the Home Ministry have been withdrawn.
