Two held with uranium-resembling object in Bhaktapur



BHAKTAPUR: Bhaktapur Police has arrested two individuals in possession of objects resembling to uranium.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of police deployed from Metropolitan Police Circle, Jagati seized the suspicious objects from the tourism market located at Bhaktapur municipality-4, Gapali.

The arrested have been identified as Bal Krishna Khadka, 41, of Suryabinayak municipality-7, Gundu and Hikmat Thapa,29, Chheddaha rural municipality-2, Bajura.

According to SP Tara Devi Thapa of Metropolitan Police Range, Bhaktapur, three grams of uranium-resembling objects were seized from their possession.

“The seized objects look like uranium, but it has not yet been confirmed yet,” said SP Thapa.

Earlier on March 12, Metropolitan Police Range Office, Ranipokhari had arrested four people with 2.9 kilograms of unrefined uranium from Bauddha.
