Vote count for NC central members underway

KATHMANDU: The vote count for central members (open category) of Nepali Congress leadership under the 14th general convention is underway.

The counting taking place at the party central office in Sanepa is divided into various 12 groups, said the party central election committee.

A total of 99 party leaders had filed their candidacy for the 35-member central membership (open category).

Some leaders in the top row so far are – Dr Shashank Koirala (882), Balkrishna Khand (797), Udaya Shumsher Rana (751), Ramesh Lekhak (703), Bal Bahadur KC (698), Mohan Bahadur Basnet (691), Dilendra Prasad Badu (685), Gyanendra Bahadur Karki (678), Gopal Man Shrestha (657), and NP Saud and Dinesh Koirala (613 each).

Similarly, a total of 487 candidates filed for the post of office bearers and members of the new 134-member central working committee (including a party president, two vice presidents, two general secretaries and eight joint general secretaries).
