KATHMANDU: The Nepali diaspora in Kolkata, the capital of India’s West Bengal State, have come together to observe Durga Puja this year too.

The worship of Goddess Durga was organized by the Shree Gorakhanath Sewa Samiti. The Samiti, founded 49 years ago, constructed a marquee nearby the office of the Kolkata Corporation and observed the festivity as per Nepalis traditions.

The idol of Goddess Durga was immersed into the water on the Bijaya Dashami, the 10th day of Bada Dashain on October 15.

On the occasion, a cultural program was also organized during which the 33rd edition of ‘Maulo’ magazine was launched.

The event marked the presence of staggering numbers of Indians of Nepalis origin as well as Nepalis temporarily residing in Kolkata.

Also present in the event were Nepali Consul General Ishwor Raj Poudel, Indian Army’s Colonel Maheshwar Singh Gurung, Bharat-Nepal Janamaitri Sanskriti Manch Chairperson Raju Pathak among others.
