UML’s Madhav faction registers new party at EC

The new party is CPN(UML) Samajbadi



KATHMANDU: The Madhav Nepal faction of the CPN-UML has registered a new party at the Election Commission (EC) after President Bidya Devi Bhandari issued an ordinance on party split on Wednesday.

Leaders of the faction, including party leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, reached the EC on Wednesday afternoon and applied for registration of a new party — CPN(UML) Samajbadi. However, they have not revealed the list of central members.

The new party has been named CPN (UML) Socialist and they have filed a petition for the “book” as its election symbol.

Earlier, Madhav Nepal leader Rajendra Pandey had said they would take some time to register the new party.

Leaders of the faction Pandey and Ram Kumari Jhankri had reached the Election Commission (EC) to finalize the process of registering a new party today.
