JSP’s Mahantha Thakur faction to register new party

Name and election symbol to be JSP (Democratic) and Bicycle



KATHMANDU: With the issuance of the ordinance on political parties, the Mahanta Thakur faction of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) has started preparations for the registration of a new party.

According to leader Laxman Lal Karna, Thakur faction is preparing to go to the Election Commission today for party registration.

After losing the legal battle to claim Janata Samajbadi Party, the former Rastriya Janata Party group of JSP was waiting for the ordinance on political parties for the registration of new party.

As soon as the ordinance recommended by the cabinet was issued by the President on Wednesday, Thakur’s party is preparing to go to the Election Commission for the registration of a new party. Thakur’s party has decided to name their new party Janata Samajbadi Party (Democratic) and pick the bicycle as the election symbol.
