KATHMANDU: Chairman of the CPN-Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that the struggle against regression is not over yet as the regression is at retreat and is not defeated for good.
Speaking at a program organized at the Maoist Center’s headquarters in Paris Danda on Wednesday on the occasion of the 27th memorial day of Martyr Ram Briksha Yadav, Chairman Prachanda said that a long battle is still to be fought to materialize the dream of the martyrs as the regressive tendency is overwhelmingly spread in all sectors.
“Despite the victory we got against regression at present, the struggle against regressive forces is still far from over yet,” he said, adding, “The dictatorial, authoritarian, individualistic and the attempts to avert the achievements established by people’s movement are still there even in the guise of the communist movement.”
Maoist Center Chairman Prachanda reiterated that there is still the need to prepare for better and more powerful struggle against regression.
“We have fought and won with real determination to stop the individualist tendency in the communists. But this is not the final victory, we still have a long way to go to make the dreams of the martyrs come true, now let’s get ready for that,” he said, adding, “A long battle is needed to move forward on the path of socialism.”
Prachanda acknowledged that the revolutionary character and culture of the Maoist Center had changed after the peace accord and the introduction of the Federal Democratic Republic.
“After the peace agreement or the federal democratic republic, we do not have the spirit of our own revolutionary character and culture (sacrifice, austerity and sacrifice). It’s the other way around, “he said, “It’s high time for the leadership to realize it and make commitment not to let the movement get derailed again.”
