Ruling coalition asks lawmakers not to leave parliament building until PM Deuba takes vote of confidence

KATHMANDU: The ruling coalition has instructed the lawmakers of the coalition not to leave the parliament building until Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba takes a vote of confidence.

Prime Minister Deuba is taking a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives (HoR) after 4 pm Sunday.

Prior to this, leaders of the ruling coalition are scheduled to meet at 2 pm.

Sources said that the meeting will give formal instructions to the lawmakers not to leave the parliament building until the vote of confidence is taken.

Meanwhile, a meeting of leaders of the ruling coalition, including Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, on Saturday night had decided to take a vote of confidence on Sunday afternoon.

Only a limited number of leaders including Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda”, UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, Janata Samajbadi Party Chairman Upendra Yadav were present at the meeting held at an undisclosed location in Koteswor.

According to sources, UML senior leader Nepal had assured PM Deuba of supporting him by giving a vote of confidence.
