Silgadhi-Bajhang road obstructed



KATHMANDU: The road from district headquarters, Silgadhi to Bajhang has been obstructed due to landslides triggered by heavy rainfall since the past three days.

The road passing via Kalena, Machintola, Dallek and Mellek remains closed for traffic after a landslide occurred at a place called Chisapani of Silgadhi.

As a result, travelers have suffered while transportation of essential goods to the villages as well as of the sick to the district hospital has been affected, said local of Silgadhi municipality-9, Man Bahadur Saud.

Furthermore, the landslides in Chisapani have also damaged water supply pipes in the source of drinking water, as a result of which Silgadhi has been facing a water crisis since the past three days.

Though staffers have been mobilized to renovate the damaged pipes, it has not been possible due to the landslide in multiple locations, said chair of the Silgadhi drinking water users committee Ram Chandra Dhami.

As rainfall continues to take place, the lack of efforts by the concerned authorities to clear the road for traffic has agitated the citizens, said local resident Pahal Singh Saud.
