Govt to facilitate the health material procurement



KATHMANDU: The government is going to facilitate the transportation of health items that are being procured and brought by the private sector with the help of Nepalis living abroad.

A meeting of the stakeholders including Minister and officials at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies among others decided to assign the responsibility of coordination for the facilitation of such goods to Mahavir Pun, the Chairperson of the National Innovation Center.

Minister for Industry Lekhraj Bhatt and other participants of the meeting discussed about the prospective solution for the oxygen support problem.

According to the sources, the officials of the Nepal Oil Corporation expressed their commitment to provide Nepal Airlines the required fuel free of cost.

Similarly, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies Narayan Regmi informed that the meeting also discussed about assisting the private sector in importing health products from abroad.

“In coordination with the National Innovation Center, the health materials arranged by the private sectors will also be brought to Nepal via Nepal Airlines flights as far as possible,” Regmi said.

National Innovation Center Chair Mahavir Pun revealed that provided the weight of such goods is around 30-40 tons, the Ministry of Supply will facilitate the import of health materials from Kunming, Beijing and Gounzhou of China, Doha, Qatar, Japan, Australia and Western part of United States of America and they will be transported to Nepal via Nepal Airlines.
