IRC demands updates on MCC status

Minister Gyawali reiterates MCC is in best interest of Nepal



KATHMANDU: Lawmakers at International Relations Committee (IRC) of the parliament have sought the position of the most talked mega-project Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

During the discussion between the IRC and Foreign Minister Pradip Gyawali on Nepal’s foreign policy, the lawmakers demanded clarification on the MCC compact.

Taking part on the discussion, Nepali Congress lawmaker Divyamani Rajbhandari and CPN (UML) MP Mohan Baniya demanded the government to offer clear information about the agreement to be reached by the Government of Nepal.

Foreign Minister Gyawali ensured the lawmakers that Nepal’s interests were taken into consideration while concluding the treaty.

The committee is scheduled to hold a series of discussions with all parties on Nepal’s foreign policy.
