Former King Gyanendra returns home after Haridwar pilgrimage

KATHMANDU: Former King Gyanendra Shah has returned home on Sunday completing his visit to Kumbhamela at Haridwar, India. He is accompanied by his wife former Queen Komal Shah.

The Shahs had left for India on April 8 at the invitation of the Maha Kumbh Mela 2021 Special Committee Haridwar, India.

The royals had taken the ‘Royal bath’ on April 12 and had entertained meetings with various political and religious leaders during their stay at Haridwar.

During the visit, the hosts welcomed and honored former King Shah as the King of Hindu Kingdom Nepal.

The Shahs landed at Tribhuvan International Airport on Sunday afternoon.

Earlier, in a coronavirus test carried out prior to their journey back home, the former royals had tested negative.

They will join home quarantine though, former King’s press secretary Phani Raj Pathak informed.

Various royalists group organized a cultural rally at TIA to welcome the former royal couple.
