NC will not topple a majority govt: NC President Deuba

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that his party would not engage itself in the politics of toppling the majority government led by Prime Minister KP Oli.

Speaking at a book release program at his residence in Budhanilkantha on Sunday, NC President Deuba said that he has no craze for power, yet, would not abstain responsibility if needed.

He asked CPN-Maoist Center to officially clear their position about the incumbent government as Prime Minister KP Oli’s government would still remain a majority government unless the Maoist Center withdraws its support.

However, the NC President reiterated in the need of breaking the political deadlock and assured that NC is ready to bear the responsibility if it comes on its shoulder.

“We are not in the game to claim the Prime Minister’s post; however, we are capable and are ready to fulfill the responsibility if it comes to NC,” President Deuba said.

He expressed satisfaction at the Supreme Court’s decision to restore the parliament and claimed that SC’s verdict has been a landmark in strengthening democracy and parliamentary system in the country.
