Home Minister Thapa loses NA seat

Loses ministership as well

KATHMANDU: Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa “Badal” has lost both his ministerial post along with the National Assembly (NA) seat.

The Parliament Secretariat has on Sunday issued a notice saying that Thapa was no longer a lawmaker in the National Assembly.

The CPN Maoist Center had on April 9 sent a letter to the Federal Parliament Secretariat informing that the party has expelled him.

He will again have to be sworn in as minister.

Home Minister Thapa was elected to the National Assembly from Bagmati Province.

Thapa now has to take the oath of office to become a minister again.

The Maoist Center had earlier written to the Parliament Secretariat to expel Industry Minister Lekh Raj Bhatta, Energy Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Labor Minister Gauri Shankar Chaudhary and Urban Development Minister Prabhu Sah from the House.

They were, however, reappointed to their respective ministries by Prime Minister KP Oli.
