CPN-UML forms PP Board, warns leaders against holding factional meetings

KATHMANDU: The ruling CPN-UML has formed a Parliamentary Party (PP) Board.

A meeting of the Parliamentary Party held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar formed a 27-member PP Board on Thursday.

The Board has been formed as per the legal provision to decide whether or not a lawmaker violating the party norms be taken disciplinary action.

Likewise, the meeting has also formed a task force to amend the party statute.

The task force consists of Bishal Bhattarai, Sher Bahadur Tamang and Bimala Rai Poudyal.

The meeting has also instructed party leaders not to hold any factional meetings.

Likewise, the meeting has also warned it would be compelled to take necessary action against leaders holding factional meetings.

The meeting has also urged the disgruntled leaders to participate in party meetings and programs and undergo self-criticism for their past activities.

Meanwhile, the Madhav Kumar Nepal-led faction did not, however, participate in the meeting despite receiving the invitation.

The faction, which is holding a national conclave in Sanepa, said it would not be able to attend the meeting because of its pre-scheduled engagement.
