COVID vaccines from India to arrive within two weeks: Minister Tripathi

KATHMANDU: Minister for Health and Population Hridayesh Tripathi has said that the COVID-19 vaccines being procured from India will arrive within two weeks.

At a press conference held at the Ministry of Health, Minister Tripathi said that the vaccine will arrive in Nepal within two weeks as the necessary procurement process has already started.

He further said that advance payment has been made to the Serum Institute of India for the purchase.

The Ministry of Health is about to procure 2 million doses of Covishield vaccines.

Minister Tripathi also said that the second phase of the vaccination campaign will start on March 7 after the vaccine arrives in Nepal.

In the second phase, the government has announced to vaccinate people above 60 years of age.

Health Secretary Laxman Aryal stated that there was enthusiastic participation in Gandaki and Lumbini provinces in the first phase of the vaccination campaign.
