Academic session extended till mid-June

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to extend the academic session for this year till mid-June.

The Ministry of Education has formally decided to extend the academic session and start a new academic session from June 15 to manage the late commencement of learning due to coronavirus pandemic.

The decision was taken on Wednesday after the amendment to the education regulations gave the Ministry of Education the right to decide on the academic session in case of disaster.

Spokesperson of the Ministry of Education, Deepak Sharma, said that it has been decided to extend the academic session so that classes and examinations from class 1 to 12 can be completed by mid-June.

As there was no formal decision on the duration of the academic session, there was confusion over the conducting classes and examinations.
