Three lawmakers withdraw support to no-confidence motion against CM Rai

BIRATNAGAR: Three Province Assembly members of Province 1 who had signed a no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Sherdhan Rai have withdrawn their signatures.

Jasmaya Gajmer, Gopal Chandra Budhathoki, and Shree Prasad Mainali have withdrawn their signatures on the no-confidence motion.

Gajmer had resigned from the post of Minister of State for Social Development, ‘disagreeing with Prime Minister KP Oli’s decision to dissolve the House of Representatives’.

Lawmakers Budhathoki and Mainali had said that they were involved in Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Vice-Chairman Bamdev Gautam’s unity campaign.

The lawmakers in a statement on Monday said that it was inappropriate for the NCP lawmakers to file a no-confidence motion against the government led by their own party.

A total of 37 lawmakers from the NCP Prachanda-Nepal faction had filed a no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Rai.
