SSP Sudip Giri assumes office as Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Circle chief

KATHMANDU: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sudip Giri has assumed office as head of Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Circle (MPC) Friday.

The Ministry of Home Affairs transferred SSP Giri from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) after outgoing  Kathmandu police Chief SSP Ashok Singh was sent to Gautam Buddha International Airport to lead as security chief. SSP Singh had taken charge of office on November 27.

Kathmandu police new Chief Giri, also deputy director of CIB, was brought at Kathmandu MPC to fill the vacant position after SSP Singh’s transfer. The transfers was fixed last month but had not been implemented due to intervention of the Prime Minister’s Office.

Till Gautam Buddha International Airport comes into operation, SSP Singh will be working from Nepal Police Headquarters in Naxal, police sources said.
