SAFF Women Football Championship: Nepal to face Bhutan today

KATHMANDU: Nepal is playing against Bhutan in the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) U-19 Women Football Championship today.

The match is taking place at 6.45 pm Nepal time at the Bir Shrestha Shahid Sipahi Mustafa Kamal Stadium in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Nepal will be seeking a second win when it meets Bhutan as it is under pressure to win this match against Bhutan in order to boost its chances of entering the finals of the championship.

Nepal has four points from two matches and is in third place in the championship. It played its first game in a goalless draw with Bangladesh while thrashing Sri Lanka 6 goals to nil in the second game of the championship.

Bhutan has collected three points from as many games and is placed at the fourth position. In the first game, Bhutan had defeated Sri Lanka 5-0 while it faced a drubbing at the hands of Bangladesh in the second match. It lost the match 0-6 to Bangladesh. Similarly, Bhutan faced a 0-3 defeat with India in the third match.

India is in the top position with six points, winning two matches. Bangladesh which played two matches has four points and is in the second position while Sri Lanka is in the fifth position without any points as it lost in all three games it has played so far.

With this, Sri Lanka is out from the championship title race. The top two teams will vie for the title of the championship participated by five countries.
