SANKHUWASABHA: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Dr. Shashank Koirala has said that he will run for the post of party President in the 14th General Convention.

Talking to reporters at Sankhuwasabha’s Tumlingtar Airport on Wednesday, Koirala announced his intention to become the party’s president. Claiming he was a strong candidate for the post of party president, he said that he would formally announce his candidature for the post soon.

On a different note, Koirala said that the current five-party alliance would last only before the election. He added that the NC would not forge alliance with any party in the upcoming election.

Stating that the current five-party alliance was only for power sharing, he said NC had not agreed to form an alliance with other parties for the upcoming elections.

Koirala also claimed that the NC would form a majority government after the upcoming elections. He said the NC would secure a majority in the upcoming election even if it contested the election on its own.
