Int’l Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) pledges to support FPAN



DEUKHURI: Director of International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) Sonal Mehta has pledged to extend support to the Family Planning Association of Nepal (FPAN).

Inaugurating the 41st central assembly of the FPAN in Dang on Tuesday, she stressed the need to utilize locally available resources and means for the sustainability of FPAN that has established its identify as an independent and service-oriented organization.

She said the Association has played substantial role in lessening maternal and child mortality rate as the reproductive health is directly associated to women.

Lauding the efforts of the FPAN, Mehta expressed commitment to provide financial support to the Association to the possible extent.
Sharing that the IPPF has been making periodic plan-based investment in Nepal, she pledged to take further initiative to continue the programme.

On the occasion, National Assembly member and Chief Whip Anita Devkota said FPAN’s works on reproductive health of women has significantly contributed to reduce maternal mortality rate.

Likewise, Minster of State for Energy, Water Resource and Irrigation of Lumbini Province, Arjun Kumar Shrestha, former member of Constituent Assembly (CA) Raju Khanal, Chief District Officer of Dang, Hiralal Regmi and FPAN’s central chairperson Himalaya Lal Kasaju, among others expressed their views. —
