The meeting, which was scheduled to be held on Tuesday, was postponed for today due to the absence of lawmakers from the main opposition party CPN-UML.

On Tuesday, the UML had requested to postpone the meeting saying that its lawmakers could not come due to the bandh imposed by Netra Bikram Chand (Biplav)-led Communist Party of Nepal.

The meeting was adjourned by the Speaker without entering the agenda as the opposition parties did not participate in the meeting.

After the resignation of the then Chief Minister Bhim Acharya, a new state government was formed under the leadership of CPN-Unified Socialist leader Rai.

Apart from the Socialist Party, the five-party coalition government includes the Nepali Congress, the CPN-Maoist Center, the Janata Samajwadi Party and the Federal Democratic National Forum.

At present, there are 50 lawmakers from the five-party alliance in the 92-member Province Assembly of Province 1.

The main opposition CPN-UML has 40 lawmakers and RPP has one.

Chief Minister Rai has appointed two ministers from the Nepali Congress, one each from the Maoist Center and Janata Samajwadi Party, and one Minister of State from the Federal Democratic National Forum.

Chief Minister Rai has said that he would expand the cabinet after taking a vote of confidence.
