Defence Minister Rijal visits NA Headquarters



KATHMANDU: Minister for Defence Dr Minendra Rijal inspected the Nepali Army (NA) headquarters on Sunday.

On the occasion, Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Prabhuram Sharma welcomed him and expressed his gratitude to the government for its guidance and support to the NA.

The Minister applauded the NA for its role in disaster management, in COVID-19 response, and contribution to the world peace-keeping efforts.

The Minister pledged to remain effortful for the strengthening of national security and capacity enhancement of NA during his term as the Defence Minister and to try his best for the guarantee of resources for the implementation of the NA priorities.

The CoAS said the NA was hopeful of special support from the leadership and direction of Dr Rijal for the modernization and professional strengthening of the army, according to the NA Directorate of Public Relations and Information.

He added that the NA was committed to fulfilling its responsibilities allocated by the constitution under any circumstances.

On the occasion, the Minister observed presentations focusing on various aspects of NA. Defence Secretary Begendraraj Sharma Poudyal was also present on the occasion.
