For Nepalis working in India, Dashain passed in a jiffy

DHANDGADHI: Nepali workers, who had come home to celebrate Dashain with their families, have started returning to India.

Shiva Shankar Oad of Godavari Municipality-11 of Kailali said, “Since I have the responsibility to take care of my children and parents, I need to go back to India for work forgetting the joy of Dashain.”

Oad said he came to Nepal from the Indian city of Noida to celebrate Dashain. “Despite my desire to spend good times with my family and relatives, I had to return for work by forgetting all those good moments,” he added.

Padam Bhatt of Dhangadhi-2, too, returned to India without celebrating Dashain with his family members.

He said he had to return to India as he had no leave.

“I came home to celebrate Dashain after two years,” he said.

Likewise, Ishwori Luhar of Godavari Municipality-12 of Kailali says she was going to India, not for the sake of work but to meet her husband.

“It has been more than three years that my husband came home,” she said.

Nepalis have started going back to India for work without being able to celebrate Dashain with their near and dear ones.

“This is the time when a substantial number of customers visit my hotel,” said Shiva Shankar of Godavari Municipality-11.

According to the police, as many as 134 Nepalis have crossed the border through Gauriphata till last evening, mostly for employment purposes.
