COVID-19 control work hit over failure to endorse budget

KATHMANDU: The country is facing an economic crisis after the budget ordinance became inactive on Wednesday against the backdrop of incomplete cabinet even two months after the formation of the coalition government.

Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba had taken charge as the Prime Minister of Nepal on July 13.

The country has reached the stage of not being able to spend due to lack of approval from the House of Representatives and non-replacement of the budget through the replacement bill.

With the failure to endorse the budget, the Covid-19 Crisis Management Ordinance, 2078 BS, and the Medicines (Third Amendment) Ordinance, 2078 BS have also become inactive.

Due to which the steps taken for the control of corona and possible steps are also seen to be affected.

With the repeal of the ordinance, legal question has arisen over the use and purchase of vaccines.
