KATHMANDU: The Judicial Museum has been established in the Supreme Court (SC).

The museum developed to give an introduction of Nepal’s judicial system and history was inaugurated on Tuesday by Chief Justice ((CJ) Cholendra Shamsher JBR.

Inaugurating the museum, CJ Rana argued that the museum could benefit all those who wish to know about the judicial system, practices and changes seen in the legal system of the country. “It will be a good platform to study and do research in legal system of Nepal,” Rana said.

Similarly, SC Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla, also the coordinator of the museum establishment project, opined that each state organ should preserve historical and archeological entities of their respective areas for future generation. She also believed that the museum would be a livelier historical icon of legal field in Nepal.

Important legal decisions, historical assets used by justices and judiciary are kept in the museum. It is shared that about 350 materials are preserved in the museum. However, only 15 items are displayed for lack of display rooms.

On the occasion, Chief Registrar of the SC Lal Bahadur Kunwar shared that the museum will have a digital access in the future.
