Nepal to play ODI series against Papua New Guinea



KATHMANDU: The Nepali national cricket team will play a one-day series against Papua New Guinea.

According to the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), Nepal will play two ODIs against Papua New Guinea in Oman on coming September 5 and 8. Nepal will play two matches against Papua New Guinea before the triangular one-day series against Oman and the United States in under ICC Cricket World Cup league-2.

According to CAN, Nepal will play a triangular one-day series against Oman and the United States in late September under League-2.

The Nepali team is currently in closed camp training for the triangular one-day series. Nineteen players are participating in the training, including Captain Gyanendra Malla, Kushal Bhurtel, Arif Sheikh, Dipendra Singh Airey, Ashif Sheikh, Gulshan Jha, Kushal Malla, Vinod Bhandari, Karan KC, Sandeep Lamichhane, Sompal Kami, Kamal Singh Airey, Avinash Bohra, Shahab Alam, Sushan Bhari, Sharad Veshwakar , Vikram Sob, Pawan Sarraf and Rohit Kumar Poudel.

In the World Cup League-2, Nepal is in the group of Papua New Guinea, Oman, the USA, Scotland, Namibia and United Arab Emirates (UAE). Nepal is currently in the sixth position with two wins in four games and four losses in two games.

The top three teams in League-2 will make it to the global qualifiers for the ODI World Cup to be held in India in 2023, while the bottom four teams will play in the playoffs.
