Speed test of Janakur-Jayanagar railway track being conducted Sunday



KATHMANDU: Speed test and certification of Janakur-Jayanagar railway track is taking place Sunday as part of pre-operation preparation.

Guru Bhattarai, general manager of Nepal Railway Company, informed this through a Facebook post on Saturday. According to Bhattarai, a diesel locomotive of East Central Railway of India will be used in the speed test.

Stating that the locomotive will travel at the speed of 120 kilometers per hour during the test, he urged the public to keep their distance from the track and not to leave people, cows, buffaloes, four-wheelers, bicycles, motorcycles and children on the track.

He added adequate security personnel would be deployed along the tracks during the test and people would also be warned by through loudspeakers before the test.

He urged the people of Jayanagar-Janakpur-Kurta section to abide by safety measures as information about the test was circulated since Saturday.
