KATHMANDU: Four judges have been transferred after the Special Court released Nepali Congress (NC) Vice President Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar on bail.

Judge Prem Raj Karki, who is the chairman of the Special Court, has been transferred to Ilam, Balendra Rupakheti to Patan Court, Shanti Thapa to Rajbiraj and Chandra Bahadur Saru has been transferred to Surkhet.

They have been transferred immediately after NC Vice President Bijaya Gachchhadar, who was implicated in the Lalita Niwas land scam, was released on bail.

According to sources, Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana transferred these four judges.

A division bench of Judges Abdul Aziz Musalman, Nitya Nanda Pandey chaired by Prem Raj Karki had released Gachchhadar on bail on Wednesday.

There are a total of six judges including the chairman. With the transfer, there are, now, only two judges – Abdul, Aziz Musalman and Nitya Nanda Pandey at the Special Court.

Both of them had heard the pleading of Gachchhadar.
