 Monsoon to get active in next 3 days; heavy rain forecast in some parts

KATHMANDU: Meteorologists have said that the monsoon will be more active in the next three days.

Meteorologist Manju Basi informed that the monsoon will be more active from today until July 20 as the low pressure monsoon trough formed in India has entered Nepal from the east and spread across the country. According to her, heavy rain is likely in some places during this period.

There is a possibility of heavy rain coupled with thunder and lightning especially in Far West, Lumbini, Gandaki, Bagmati, Province-2 and 1. Elsewhere, moderate to moderate rainfall is expected. Currently, it is raining heavily in Kaski, Syangja and other places.

Similarly, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Far West, Karnali, Lumbini and Province-1 tomorrow and heavy rain in Province1, 2, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Far-Western Province.

Meteorologist Basi informed that there is a possibility of light to moderate rain due to change in the weather in other places. Meanwhile, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has urged to take precaution as there is a risk of flood in some rivers and streams for three days from today.

The Department has urged the people living in the riparian areas to be vigilant as there is a possibility of floos in some rivers including Mahakali, Karnali, Bheri, Tinau, West Rapti and Babai.

Similarly, the tributaries of Narayani and Koshi, Kaligandaki, Marsyangdi, Budhigandaki, Trishuli, Sunkoshi, Bhotekoshi, Tamakoshi, Arun and Tamor are likely to reach the danger level.
