KATHMANDU: The Butwal-Palpa section of the Siddhartha Highway, which had been blocked for three days, has been reopened partially Thursday afternoon while the Mahendra Highway has yet to be reopened.

Though the road was reopened in the morning after clearing debris along the Siddhartha Highway, the traffic is still obstructed as the 50-meter stretch of the road near Gaudapul caved in.

Spokesperson of Lumbini Province Traffic Police Office DSP Dilli Narayan Pandey informed that the highway has been partially operational since Thursday afternoon. However, diversion near Charange of the Mahendra Highway has yet to be opened.

The Butwal-Sunwal section of the Mahendra Highway has also been blocked for three days. Pandey said construction of an alternative route is underway after the water level receded today.
