Gandaki CM Pokharel leaves for disaster-hit Manang with relief materials



KATHMANDU: Gandaki Chief Minister Krishna Chandra Nepali Pokharel has left for Manang with relief materials for monsoon disaster victims.

CM Pokharel Thursday flew on a Nepal Army helicopter to Manang with medicine, food and tents for flood victims. Minister Rajiv Gurung alias Deepak Manange, Mustang lawmaker Chinta Bahadur Ghale and media persons have accompanied CM Pokharel to the disaster-hit district.

CM Pokharel is scheduled to visit the flood-affected areas in Manang in coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Meanwhile, Gandaki provincial government decided to deposit Rs 50 million in the provincial disaster fund. The decision was taken Thursday morning by CM Pokharel-chaired meeting of the provincial Disaster Management Committee.

The amount will be used in rescue, relief and management of monsoon-induced disasters in districts of Gandaki Province.
