Opposition leaders call for effective rescue and relief amid monsoon disasters



KATHMANDU: Leaders of the opposition alliance have asked the government to carry out rescue and relief of victims of monsoon floods, landslides, and inundation effectively. They also called on rank and file to get involved in relief and rescue.

Issuing a joint statement Thursday, Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Chairman Upendra Yadav and Rastriya Janamorcha’s Durga Poudel urged the government to manage food, settlement and other rescue provisions to flood, landslide and inundation victims.

“We urge you to move ahead with the task of disaster management by mobilizing all the authorities and resources in an honest, prompt, and transparent manner,” the statement said.
