Govt permits 10 flights to Saudi Arabia for Indian migrants stranded in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: The government has permitted 10 chartered flights to Saudi Arabia for Indian migrants stranded in Kathmandu.

The government gave permission after the Saudi government and Indian Embassy in Kathmandu gave the plan a green signal.

Indian nationals have been stranded here after the prohibitory order came into effect.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), six flights of Nepal Airlines and three of Himalayan Airlines will fly to Saudi Arabia carrying Indian migrants from Tuesday.

Indian nationals can contact the airlines for tickets priced at $820 for the route. Himalayan Airlines is set to conduct all three flights to Dammam, Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, a Turkish Airlines aircraft is also arriving in Kathmandu Monday to take American citizens home.

Foreign missions have been making arrangements to take their nationals home as coronavirus is surging in Nepal.
