Country can be transformed economically through agriculture: Israeli Ambassador Goldberger



KATHMANDU: Ambassador of Israel to Nepal Hanan Goder Goldberger has said that agriculture is not a hobby but a business and a means of living a life.

Stating that there are enough opportunities to transform Nepal economically, he suggested that such opportunities should be explored. Ambassador Goldberger was observing an agriculture farm run at Damak-3 in Jhapa district run by local Mansarobar Agriculture Cooperative.

Praising the farm run through the use of modern technology, he said any country could transform economically through agriculture referring to Israel which according to him faced scarcity of foods some 70 years ago and but now is exporting agricultural products.

On the occasion, Goldberger interacted with the proprietor of the cooperative on agriculture, said the cooperative’s manager Mahendra Adhikari.

Run with subsidies from the Government of Nepal, the cooperative produces and marketizes agricultural products. Present on the occasion were Damak Municipality mayor Rom Nath Oli, chief of the Prime Minister Agriculture Modernization Implementation Unit, Jhapa, Rabindra Subedi and chief of the Agriculture Knowledge Centre, Jhapa, Nilkamal Singh.
