Province 1 Assembly meeting deferred till 11:30 am Wednesday

CM Rai to take vote of confidence on Wednesday

KATHMANDU: The Provincial Assembly (PA) meeting of Province 1 has been postponed till 11:30 am Wednesday.

Chief Minster Rajendra Rai of the province was scheduled to take a vote of confidence in the PA meeting today. However, after the main opposition CPN-UML did not show up at the meeting on Tuesday, the PA meet was deferred.

The UML had demanded to postpone the meeting saying that the lawmakers would face difficulty reaching the PA meeting due to the strike of Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplov’-led group. However, the ruling coalition had not agreed to the opposition’s demand.

Speaker Pradip Kumar Bhandari adjourned the meeting till 11:30 on Wednesday as not a single lawmaker from the opposition party UML arrived in the meeting.

With this, CM Rai will be tabling vote of confidence motion on Wednesday.
