KATHMANDU: India scored three goals against Nepal in the final of the SAFF Championship held at the National Stadium in Male, Maldives.

India scored consecutive goals in the 49th and 50th minutes against Nepal, which reached the final for the first time in the ongoing tournament in Maldives.

Indian captain Sunil Chhetri scored a header in the 49th minute of the match at the National Stadium in Male.

Less than a minute later, Indian midfielder Suresh Wangjam doubled India’s lead with a goal.

Likewise, India’s Abdul Samaad scored the third goal during the injury time.

Nepal had reached the final for the first time.

After playing draw against Bangladesh in the final group match of the Championship underway in the Maldives, Nepal had booked its place for final.
