KATHMANDU: The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has said light to moderate rain is occurring in some parts of all the seven provinces this morning.

Light to moderate rain amidst thunderstorms is expected in Lumbini, Gandaki, Karnali and many places of Sudurpashchim Province. The MFD has said that heavy rain is likely in Lumbini and one or two places of the Sudurpashchim.

The weather will remain cloudy without sunshine in the Kathmandu Valley today, said Min Kumar Aryal, a meteorologist.

He informed that there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in Kathmandu today as the weather has been changing since this morning. “The weather in Kathmandu will remain cloudy for a few more days. The weather will be clear from Saturday,” Aryal said.

According to Aryal, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain amidst thunderstorms in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and many places in Sudurpashchim. Similarly, heavy rain is likely in some parts of Sudurpashchim, said Aryal.

Meanwhile, the Division has urged people to be vigilant as the water level in rivers and streams may rise, increasing risk of erosion and landslides in the hilly terrain and inundation in the terai region.

Currently, the weather of Nepal has been influenced by the low-pressure monsoon trough which is located in Madhya Pradesh, India.
