Promptly bring back Nepalis home from Afghanistan: HoR



KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives (HoR) has ruled that the government to make prompt arrangements to bring Nepalis back from Afghanistan.

In Monday’s HoR meeting, Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota drew attention to the situation of Nepalis in the war-torn country. “The HoR asks the government to manage safe haven for Nepalis there and make prompt arrangements to bring them home,” he said, adding, the HoR’s next meeting expected to be briefed about government work in this regard.

Earlier, the main opposition CPN-UML had also demanded immediate rescue of Nepalis from Afghanistan.

UML lawmaker Gokul Baskota demanded a ruling saying that Nepal had not responded yet though it was the chair of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) after the incidents in Afghanistan. Following, Baskota’s demand, the Speakers gave his ruling.
