Cabinet Meeting: Safe rescue of Nepalis in Afghanistan to be carried at the earliest

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to safely rescue the Nepalis in Afghanistan at the earliest in the wake of the recently developed scenario there.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers today directed the concerned authorities and agencies to take forward the coordinated rescue operation of the Nepalis in Afghanistan, according to the Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs and spokesperson of the government Gyanendra Bahadur Karki.

Spokesperson Karki shared that the meeting convened at the official residence of Prime Minister at Baluwatar, Kathmandu also dwelt on matters relating to the hunger strike being staged by the former British Gurkhas in Britain’s capital London for equal pensions.

The Spokesperson further said, “The government of Nepal is committed to resolving this issue through diplomatic means.”

The government has already urged the protesting former British Gurkhas to call off their protest programs.

He said that the diplomatic process had been initiated and taken forward to address this issue.
